Have you ever been with a friend who’s been gossiping and before you know it, you’ve joined in? Our environment is crucial to our recovery because it’s very difficult to receive a healing from God when you surround yourself with the wrong friends.
Each day we receive messages from the unseen realm, the world of the unconscious. These messages build us up for our destiny or they can tear us down. Having people in your world who won’t believe for the miracle you need are not the kind of friends who’ll benefit you. Are your friends full of negativity and full of doubt? This is an unhealthy environment.
When in a valley of sickness, surrounding yourself with people who are negative or who only look at the situation in the natural are not the faith filled types of friends who’ll see you through to your breakthrough. They may be faithful to you, loyal, kind and supportive, but are they filled with faith?
Do they believe in the amazing future God has for you? Are their thoughts in line with God’s thoughts?
One thing I’ve realised, is that when you’re climbing a mountain, God purposefully places people in your life who will climb with you. These friends know God and have faith in his goodness. They’re not there by accident. God has placed them with you.
“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life…” 2 Peter 1:3 This includes our friends! Whoop! Whoop! God knows the friends that you need to see you through your season of suffering so he puts those friends deliberately in your pathway. Sometimes those friendships don’t make sense in the natural. Maybe these friends are of a different age, background and personality. But these are spiritual friends. God has called and ordained friends to journey this with you. They’re going where you’re going and you won’t get to your destination without them.
I’m sure you’re familiar with the healing of the man by the pool of Bethesda? (see John 5:1-15) My question is, where were his friends? This guy had been lying by the pool for many years, waiting for someone to help him get to the pool to be healed. Why didn’t his friends help him? I can’t help but think, that he just didn’t have the right friends. He was helpless.
We all know that when a flower doesn’t bloom, it is not the flower causing the problem, but it’s environment. In the same way, if you want to fulfill the call God has on your life (and we know he wants you well), then planting yourself with Godly friends around you, creates the right condition for you to receive.
If you’re serious about a healing, then check out your friendship groups and consider making changes if necessary.
