When the doctor says ‘there’s nothing more we can do for you’, the distress and disappointment is heartbreaking.
I have clients who are in this place, it’s scary, it’s feels soul destroying. I’ve been in this place too. Few things are worse than knowing you’ll be suffering for the rest of your life or that you’re dying.
Is this where you are right now? I pray that this short series of how Jesus cleanses the leper will give you hope and an expectation of how healing is possible.
When Jesus cleanses the leper, He says ‘I am willing’. Thankfully no matter how impossible an illness, the Lord Jesus will never say those words to us.
When Jesus came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him. A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”
Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy. Matt 8:1-3
The Apostle John says:
Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.
3 John 1:2 (NKJV)
Are you sick in your body today? Put yourself in the shoes of the leper. God is no respecter of persons, if Jesus cleanses the leper, he is willing to heal you as well.
We all know people who believed and had faith for healing yet they still died. This causes us to doubt, then we conclude it must have been God’s will.
Just because something goes wrong in the natural doesn’t change the truth of the Word of God. Rest assured God wants you well more than you do, it’s one of His many promises.
I will restore you to health, And I will heal you of your wounds,’ declares the LORD
Just how willing is He?
If I ever had a sickness as a child, my mother would always say ‘I wish I could have it instead of you’. Of course she was powerless to change places with me. Jesus however is all powerful and this is exactly what happened on the cross. Healing is part of the Atonement.
Surely our sicknesses he hath borne, And our pains — he hath carried them. Isaiah 53:4 (YLT)
Jesus carried your pain, your sickness or your disease on the cross. Healing is not just an added extra or a fringe benefit. Healing and forgiveness go hand in hand.
Jesus went to a lot of trouble to see you healed. When this is firmly established in your heart all doubts and fears of God’s will to heal disappear.
What a loving Father we have!
I hope this helps you today.
