Grace For Healing
God wants you well
receive gods grace

Today’s post is about how to receive God’s grace.

I think you’ll agree it’s impossible to journey through illness without God’s grace, but it doesn’t automatically fall through the sky.

Today I share the best and most effective way to receive God’s grace. Here’s what happened in my situation:

Many years ago, when my body was so riddled with pain that even getting dressed or showered seemed to take all day (and on some days, not at all).

I was in a constant place of defeat and lack (because I didn’t understand how to receive God’s grace.)

The Bible tells us to choose life, I didn’t know how to; the horror of my situation seemed greater than the power of grace.

Are you the same? Are you so overcome by the symptoms in your body, you’re in a constant state of struggle?

The only way to live abundantly, is through God’s grace. But how do we receive it?

I felt God give me a picture of the yellow brick road. If you remember the story, as long as Dorothy stayed on the right path, she would reach her destination, the Emerald City.

The witch tried everything in her power to steer Dorothy off the brick road, meaning she would never reach her destiny.

HOW TO RECEIVE GOD’S GRACE

1. ASK

Each day God gives us grace; his favour and empowerment.

He gives us grace to do what we could never do in our own strength, to do those things which doctors say is unlikely, to rise above the pain, to get out of bed, to do daily chores….to believe for that miracle.

By continually receiving God’s gift of grace each day, we stay on that yellow brick road.

I would wake up in the morning, stretch out my hands and pray ‘Lord, thank you for giving me the grace I need today’ Rom 5:17

Then, I would literally put my foot on the floor and see the yellow brick road in front of me.

2. RECEIVE THROUGH FAITH

You receive God’s grace through FAITH.

As long as I received the grace for that day, I would be victorious in whatever the day had in store. The more I learned how to receive God’s grace, the more I received his empowerment to live abundantly.

I started to be able to do what I previously could not, like having the enthusiasm to get dressed, even if it took forever; setting myself goals; pushing boundaries where I had previously been limited.

For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.

Romans 5:17

Those ‘impossible’ daily tasks were now achievable. God’s provision of grace was greater than the pressures of the illness.

Remember:

  • Abraham ‘considered not his own body’ when he was more aware of God’s power than his circumstances.
  • The man lowered through the roof and his friends saw healing power, when all the Pharisees saw Jesus in the natural.

3. SEE GOD AS YOUR PROVIDER

Are your eyes on your situation or on God’s unlimited resources?

When I was in my own strength, all I saw were the limitations of living with pain. I never saw Jesus as someone to supply all my needs and strength for the day ahead.

But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

 Phil 4:19

God promises to supply whatever it is you need today, but it takes faith on our part to believe this.

Living each day with illness and symptoms can invite a stressful outlook releasing chemicals into the body which amplify symptoms.

A place of dis-ease.

If we would only train our brains to see God’s unlimited power instead.

God Knows everything you need before you do; he takes care of the demands of the day so there is a rest, an ease.

We choose life by allowing God to give us what we need to rise above our circumstances.

God gave the Israelites manna every day. When the Israelites were in the wilderness, they were literally depending upon God’s grace for food and for water.

The provision was there.

Think of the difference it would make to your life and to those in our communities if we all saw God as the all sufficient one, providing all our needs.

How we see God determines if we’ll receive his grace or not.

He supplies us with the strength to get out of bed, the willingness to keep on going, the ability to do what we could never do in the natural.
