If you’ve been unwell for years, you may be doubting God’s will to heal.
You may be praying, fasting, speaking the Word over yourself…and so on, but not seeing any improvements. Perhaps you’ve concluded that it just isn’t God’s will to heal you.
Today’s post will teach you the truth about God’s will to heal, using the Bible as our evidence. You will find a rest and a freedom from doubt causing faith to raise as you continue on your journey.
If you’ve been unwell for many years, it’s understandable if you’re having doubts so give yourself some grace. You’ve seen many others not make it and you think it’ll be the same for you, after all you’ve tried everything.
Well let me ask you this: If you had the power to take away your child’s illness, would you do it? I really want to share with you today why I am 100% convinced of the will of God in the area of healing.
A Will is a legally binding written document, a contract, which clarifies a person’s wishes or desires after his death.
But how can we be sure of God’s will for our lives? When it’s written in His Word.
BIBLICAL PROOF OF GOD’S WILL TO HEAL.
When I had a sickness as a child, my mother would always say ‘I wish I could have it instead of you’. How many of you have said that to your own children?
Such is the love of a parent, willing to do anything, even exchange places, to spare their child from pain.
Of course my mother was powerless to change places with me. Jesus however is all powerful and this is exactly what happened on the cross.
Healing is part of the Atonement, part of the divine exchange. This proves his willingness and his heart to heal those he loves.
This proves it’s always God’s will to heal.
This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: “He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases.
Matt 8:17
Wow! This is completely awesome. Jesus carried your cancer, depression, chronic pain, heart failure…whatever the diagnosis or symptoms in your body.
Jesus went through hell, so you and I would be completely healed and made whole.
There is no evidence that the healing of diseases is secondary to forgiveness of sins. It isn’t an afterthought or additional benefit just thrown in for the select few.
Yet how sad that most Christians don’t believe this truth.
THE WILLINGNESS OF JESUS
God’s will doesn’t automatically come to pass in a person’s life. Just because something goes wrong in the natural, doesn’t mean it was God’s desire.
The Bible however is very clear; it is always God’s will to heal.
Otherwise, we’re saying that Jesus didn’t carry our sickness to the cross, which is a lie. If the truth sets us free, then believing a lie, will keep us bound.
When Jesus came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him. A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy.”
Matt 8:1-3
Jesus says the same to you today. ‘I am willing’. Why would God be willing to heal the leper and not you? Just because we don’t always see healing here on earth, does not mean it isn’t God’s desire.
To not believe this truth, is to dishonour Jesus. God wants you well, more than you do. He allowed his own Son to carry your illness showing it’s always God’s will to heal.
THE CROSS HAS HEALED YOU
It’s so crucial we see that this is past tense. It’s not that God will heal, but the healing has already been done!
I can see why this may be upsetting and confusing to some. If said unwisely, it can come across as though people are devaluing the pain you’re in.
Now I realise that Peter isn’t saying that you or I stick our heads in the sand and pretend we don’t have symptoms, or a diagnosis.
This is a reality here in the natural realm.
You see there is ‘The Truth’ and ‘our truth’: 2 different truths, 2 different realms.
Peter’s not diminishing any illness or dismissing the misery you are facing. He is saying, that whilst you’re in pain or suffering, look to the cross; this is where the healing has been accomplished.
Has anyone ever told you that you’re already healed even though you’re still suffering? Does this help you a little?
THE FINISHED WORK PROVES GOD’S WILL TO HEAL
We don’t fight for victory, we fight from victory; resting in the finished work of Christ. Begging or pleading for God to heal us shows a lack of understanding for the ways of God and doubts his willingness.
Often people pray ‘God will you please heal me’. We can’t ask God to do something he’s already done.
Instead why not pray ‘Thank you God, that according to your Word, the stripes of Jesus have healed me.’This is confident and assured; a more effective way to pray and stops you doubting if it’s God’s will to heal.
Just picture what life would be like if we took our eyes off the natural realm where the situation is impossible and instead placed them into the spiritual realm.
How has this helped you today? Did you know that healing is part of God’s atonement?
