When I first became unwell I remember pleading with God for healing, I was just so overcome with desperation for him to turn my situation around. Does anyone relate to that? When we’re unwell and desperately in need of God’s healing, it’s easy to spend time pleading with God, telling Him how bad the suffering is like we need to convince Him to move. Does this sound familiar? You don’t need to beg God to heal you, He’s already sent His Son. He wants you well more than you do. God knows how bad the pain is or how long the illness has gone on for. Everything we receive is through faith. Our salvation is received through faith. Our healing is received through faith. What gets God to move, is faith in Him and His Word.
Praying God’s healing promises over our situations is powerful. When I was a school teacher I remember a young child reminding me of something I’d promised. ‘Miss Penn, you said that if I finished my work I could go and play outside’. Of course, I had to stick to my word. I think it can be the same with God. Not that God forgets his promises, but reminding Him of what’s He’s promised is a powerful way to pray and guarantees we’re praying in line with His will.
“I’ve posted watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem.
Day and night they keep at it, praying, calling out,
reminding God to remember.
They are to give him no peace until he does what he said,” Is 62:6-7
I think God wants us to remind God what He’s said by praying God’s healing promises. ‘Father I thank you that I am healed by the stripes of Jesus…Father thank you that Jesus took my infirmities and carried my diseases…Father thank you that you are restoring me and healing my wounds.’ As you pray, your faith will be strengthened as you speak and declare the word of God over your life. Faith comes from hearing the Word. You’ll be encouraged and begin to feel victorious. In the words of Corrie Ten Boom ‘Let God’s promises shine on your problems’.
God loves to hear you speak His word
You don’t need to plead and beg Him to turn the situation around. You just need to present the evidence, found in the Word. Your advocate, Jesus, is interceding for you. This means He’s fighting for you; pleading for you; supporting you; presenting your case to God. I can’t think of a better advocate than the Son of God! Whoop! Whoop!
‘…we have an advocate with the Father – Jesus Christ, the Righteous One…’ 1 John 2:1
The Bible says that God is faithful and true to His Word which will never return to Him void. All His promises are ‘yes and amen.’ Stay in faith and continue to declare the promises. Even when you’re weary, even when you feel like giving up. YOU CAN DO THIS. YOU ARE AMAZING. GOD HAS GIVEN YOU WHAT YOU NEED. YOU ARE MORE THAN A CONQUEROR. It will only be a matter of time before the tide of the battle turns and God will fulfill those promises.
Are you praying God’s healing promises? Have you noticed a difference?
